York Railway Station, North Yorkshire, c1955-c1980. An interior view of York Railway Station, showing platforms extending out from under the building, wrought-iron roof trusses and trains and passengers on the platforms. York Railway Station was built between 1872 and 1877 with Scarborough yellow brick, with cast-iron columns throughout the station supporting arches of wrought-iron roof trussess, as seen in the image. At the end of the roof are four segmental arches, three of which can be seen in the image, which lead out towards the platform extensions with twin colonnades of columns with trussed roof on top. The image shows the interior of the station, showing two platforms with passengers and trains on either side. The view is likely to be south-facing, suggested by the curve of the roof trusses.
