Commander in Chief in India, against the Insurgent Troops of the Gwalior Contingent and others under Brothers of Nana Sahib of Bithur. Map of the town of Cawnpore (modern-day Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh). The British under General Sir Colin Campbell defeated the Indian rebels commanded by Tantya Tope.
