'View of Rochester Bridge with the Castle, &c', 1779. Rochester Bridge over the River Medway in Kent, with boats in the foreground and Rocheter Castle in the distance. The medieval stone bridge, completed in 1391, was the only crossing at Rochester for almost 500 years. It was demolished in 1857 and replaced with a cast iron bridge.
