Prison of Duke John, son of Gustav I, at Gripsholm, following Erik's deposition, from 'Teckningar efter Naturen Sverige Interiuer och Exteriuer', published c.1853-64 (colour litho). Teckningar efter Naturen Sverige Interiuer och Exteriuer' contained a series of lithographs of imagined scenes from history that took place in royal castles; here we see a rendering of Duke John (1537-92) imprisoned; he would eventually become the King of Sweden in 1568 until his death.
