The New York skyline, and the Sherry, Netherlands and Pierre hotels are visible in the background. Columbus Circle is a trafic circle laid out by William P Eno in 1905. At its centre is a monument designed by Italian sculptor Gaetano Russo which was erected in 1892 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus' discovery of America.
