Danish Bacon Company exhibition day, Wilsic, near Doncaster, South Yorkshire, 1961. Danish Bacon organised this meeting of grocers from the Doncaster area at the Wilsic Cricket Club for a demonstration of their new methods of selling their pork products. In the photograph, a member of the sales team show how the products would be displayed in a self service freezer (here with some oven ready Norfolk chicken). Self service supermarkets had increased in popularity during the late 1950s and were becoming more commonplace in the South Yorkshire area. Danish Bacon had a depot at nearby Kilnhurst from 1956.
