Interior of the old church of Trönö, province of Hälsingland, Sweden. What makes this church special is the medieval features, including the bell tower (perhaps the oldest in Sweden) which is preserved quite untouched. The oldest parts of the church are from around 1200. In the beginning of the 16th century the church was enlarged. The size and position of the original church however are easily seen at the gables (from the outside). Nowadays the church belongs to the Central Board of of National Antiquities. The church contains several medieval objects, including a triumphal crucifix from around 1400 and some sculptures from the 16th century. The most interesting object however is a Limoges reliquiary from around 1220 depicting the murder of Thomas Becket, Archbishop of Canterbury. It is kept in the new church of Trönö.
