Légende

Staithes, North Yorkshire. At the turn of the 20th century, a fleet of 80 fishing vessels operated out of Staithes. Today only one remains and over half the cottages in the picturesque village are owned by outsiders as holiday homes. The village used to be well known as an artists' colony, with a group of artists known as the "Staithes Group", or the "Northern Impressionists" based there. In 1745-1746 the future Captain James Cook worked in the village as a grocer's apprentice.
