Légende

Tomb of Edward II, Gloucester Cathedral, Gloucestershire. Edward (1284-1327) ruled from 1307 until he was deposed by his wife, Isabella of France, and Roger Mortimer, Earl of March, in January 1327. He is thought to have been murdered by agents of Isabella and Roger later that year, possibly by having a red-hot piece of metal inserted into his rectum. This would have penetrated the entrails without leaving an exterior mark. His monument was erected soon after his death.
