'Rich's Glory', (1881). 'Rich's Glory or his Triumphant Entry into Covent-Garden', c1732. A satire on director and theatre manager John Rich's new Theatre Royal in Covent Garden, Westminster, London, which opened in 1732. Poet and dramatist John Gay is carried into the theatre on a porter's back, (right). Rich, dressed as Harlequin, drives a carriage pulled by satyrs.
