Robert Curthose (c1051-1134) the Duke of Normandy from 1087 until 1106, eldest son of William I (c1028-1087) and an unsuccessful claimant to the throne of the Kingdom of England. Due to an extravagant lifestyle without adequate financial backing Robert often had to remain in bed as he was without the necessary garments to attend formal duties.
