Légende

Castel Sant' Angelo, Rome, Italy, 1927. The cylindrical building was built in the 2nd century by the Emperor Hadrian as a mausoleum for him and his family. Originally known as the Mole of Hadrian, it was converted into a fortress in the 5th century, after which it became known as the Castel Sant' Angelo. Hadrian also built the bridge over the Tiber leading to the mausoleum, the Ponte Sant' Angelo, known in his day as the Pons Aelius (Aelian Bridge).
