'Battle of St. Vincent', c1798. The Battle of Cape St Vincent, fought on 14 February 1797, was one of the opening battles of the Anglo-Spanish War, part of the French Revolutionary Wars. The British fleet commanded by Admiral Sir John Jervis (1735-1823) defeated the Spanish Navy near Cape St Vincent, Portugal. From Old Naval Prints, by Charles N. Robinson & Geoffrey Holme.
