Her Grace the Duchess of Devonshire, 18th century. Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire. Georgiana Cavendish (1757-1806) was famous for her beauty, her political campaigning, gambling, and unorthodox domestic arrangements. Her best friend was also her husband's mistress, and Georgiana tolerated a menage a trois for many years. She herself bore a child out of wedlock.
