Légende

''Big Bertha', the German gun that shelled Paris', World War I, c1918. 'Big Bertha' was the name given by the French to a German rail mounted siege gun used to bombard Paris between March and August 1918. It was able to shell the city from 75 miles away. The exact specifications of the gun are unknown as the Germans destroyed it to stop it falling into the hands of the Allies as the war neared its conclusion. This suggests that the weapon in the photograph is not the Paris Gun. Stereoscopic detail.
