Jack Petersen, Welsh boxer, 1938. In 1932 Petersen (1911-1990) won the British light-heavyweight championship by defeating Harry Crossley on points. He relinquished the title without defending it, moving up to heavyweight knocked out Reggie Meen to become the first Welshman to be British champion. After two successful defences, Petersen lost his title on points to Len Harvey in 1933, but regained it and the British Empire belt by gaining his revenge over Harvey with a 12th round techical knockout the following year. Four more successful defences followed before he lost on a techical knockout to South Africa's Ben Foord in 1936. In all, Petersen won 33 fights with just 5 losses, 3 of them in non-title bouts against the German heavyweight Walter Neusel. A Churchman's Cigarettes picture card.
