USS 'Kearsarge', American battleship, 1898. The lead ship of her class, 'Kearsarge' was launched in 1898. She served as flagship of the US North Atlantic Fleet and in 1907 sailed with the 'Great White Fleet' of battleships sent on a circumnavigation of the world by President Theodore Roosevelt to show off America's growing sea power.
