Beaumont Palace, Oxford. Beaumont Palace was built in c1130 as a royal palace by Henry I. It was donated to the Carmelites as the site of a monastery by Edward II, but fell into ruin after the Dissolution of the Monasteries. The ruins were used to provide building stone for Christ Church and St John's College and by 1820 nothing remained.
