Table of the degrees of Consanguinity, a page from Liber Floridus, 12th century. Consanguinity is the property of having the same genetic lineage as another person. Legally it is of importance in determining whether two people could be married and in determining whether property be awarded to a given person in the event of the deceased having not left a will. Liber Floridus was an encyclopedia compiled by Lambert, Canon of St Omer, between 1095 and 1120. From the collection of Ghent University.
