Heaven, represented like a flower, with angels flying above, from a 15th century version of the Divina Commedia (The Divine Comedy) by Dante Alighieri (1265-1321). In the first two parts, Hell and Purgatory, Dante is guided by Virgil. In the third, Heaven (Paradiso), he is guided by Beatrice. Illuminated mansucript from the Vatican Library, Rome.
