Légende

Gilt-copper figure of Kubera, Tibet, 18th century. A gilt copper figure of Kubera seated side-saddle on a mythical animal its head turned to face the viewer, whilst a mongoose chases jewels down one arm. The figure and mythical animal are seated on a lotus throne with downward pointing petals only above a beaded border. The base is hollow. The identification of this figure as Kubera has been arrived at from the animal on which the figure sits and from the mongoose which is the attribute of this deity. Kubera is an important Tibetan wealth god and a popular Buddhist figure in Tibet and Nepal.
