Painted pottery bowl, Neolithic period, Yangshao culture, Banpo type, China, 6th-3rd millenium BC. Small round-bottomed bowl with rounded everted rim. The interior of the bowl is painted with traces of two large abstract fish faces viewed from the front and two small cross-hatched fish viewed from the side in a faded brown colour. The rim has a plain brown line and chevrons.
