Bamboo brushpot in the shape of a pine tree, China, 1st half of the 17th century. Small bamboo brush pot, Ming dynasty, carved as the section of a pine tree with smooth but knobbled trunk. There are two gnarled pine branches, one small, one long and forked with individually done scales, both branches are free-standing descending from the rim, the longer extends almost as far as the base.
