Paddington Station, the London terminus of the Great Western Railway, 1854. Iron was used in the construction of the roof, and the spans supported on cast iron pillars. The building, which was the joint work of Isambard Kingdom Brunel (1806-1859) and Matthew Digby Wyatt, opened in 1854.
