Temple of Antenociticus, Benwell, Newcastle Upon Tyne, c1955-c1980. The Temple of Antenociticus, seen from the south, with the apsidal end in the foreground with flanking altars. The temple was built c180 AD with sandstone rubble. It is rectangular, with a apse at the southern end, which is flanked by two altars, which are casts of originals which are now house in the Museum of Antiquities. The temple would have stood outside of the Roman fort Condercum, which stood along the line of Hadrian's Wall, east of the main site. The site is now managed by English Heritage.
