Chelsea Pensioners reading the gazette of the Battle of Waterloo, Chelsea, London, 1815. Scene of excitement outside the Duke of York public house as Chelsea Pensioners and others, both civilians and men in uniform, hear of the of the Duke of Wellington's victory over Napoleon at the Battle of Waterloo. A man reads from a newspaper to others round a table, one of whom is black. A man in military uniform holds up his baby as he listens, right. Others lean out of windows, and a soldier on horseback is offered a drink, left.
