Légende
Five suffragettes holding a broken window in its frame, 1912. Adela Pankhurst is on the far left. From 1911, window smashing as executed by Mary Leigh and Edith New in 1908 was taken up with a vengeance and caused tremendous damage all over the country. The women who took part in this campaign were quickly arrested and therefore were not exposed to violent and traumatic struggles with the police as on 'Black Friday'.
