Minnie Baldock, Women's Social and Political Union organiser in the East End of London, c1908. Minnie Baldock lived in West Ham and was active in the local branch of the Independent Labour Party (ILP) - in 1892 Keir Hardie had been elected as the ILP's first Member of Parliament for South West Ham. When Annie Kenney was sent to London by Emmeline Pankhurst in 1906 she stayed with Minnie and founded the WSPU's first London branch in nearby Canning Town. Others followed in Poplar, Bow, Limehouse and Stepney.
