Légende
Poster advertising the Suffragette newspaper, 1912. A suffragette dressed as Joan of Arc, patron saint of the suffragettes. The increasingly militant tone of the latter stages of the campaign is demonstrated by the use of this image, illustrated using the suffragette colours of purple, green and white. The newspaper was edited by Christabel Pankhurst, secretary of the Women's Social and Political Union and a leading figure in the campaign to obtain the vote for women.
