Gatehouse, Cleeve Abbey, Somerset, 1999. Cleeve Abbey was founded as a Cistercian monastery in 1198. Many of the surviving buildings date from the 13th century, including the gatehouse. This latter was remodelled by Abbot Dovell in the early 16th century. In the foreground the course of a stream is marked by flowers.
