The Middlesborough Transporter Bridge, Cleveland, 1955. Showing the mobile middle section of the bridge suspended above the water, carrying cars and passengers. The mobile section of roadway is carried on cables hung from a gantry. The bridge carries the main road across the estuary of the River Tees. It was built in 1911 by the Cleveland Bridge & Engineering Co.
