Erbario di Trento (Manoscritto n° 1591), XVI secolo, carta 7 recto: “Branchia Retonda”.

“Ad trahendum ferrum vel lignum, acipe folia
istius herbe et pistetur et postea et inplastren-
tur super feritam ubi est ferum vel lignum et
subito extraet illud ad se per spaciam (4)
trium horum. Et sy vis probare accipe unan
(') acum magnanam et fige quo vis videlicat
in uno corpore alicuius bestie mortue et vide-
bis virtutem istius erbe. Item si quis haberent
pariclos inflatos, accipe radicem istius herbe,
fac implastrum super pariclos et da ey come-
dere jeiuno stomecho et subito curabitur.
Nascitur in terenus (%) alpastribus, videlicet in
locis frigidis.

La traduzione è “Per estrarre un ferro o un legno, prendi una foglia di quest’erba, pestala, e fanne un impiastro sopra la ferita, dove c’è il ferro o il legno e quello verrà fuori in tre ore. E se vuoi provare, prendi una grossa punta e conficcala dove ti pare nel corpo di un animale morto e vedrai le virtù di questa erba. Se qualcuno avesse i testicoli gonfi, prendi la radice di questa erba, fanne un impiastro sui testicoli stessi e dagliela da mangiare a stomaco digiuno e subito guarirà. Nasce in terreni alpestri, cioè in luoghi freddi”.

“To extract iron or wood, take a leaf of this herb, crush it, and make a poultice over the wound where the iron or wood is, and it will come out in three hours. And if you want to try, take a large spike and stick it anywhere you like into the body of a dead animal, and you will see the virtues of this herb. If someone has swollen testicles, take the root of this herb, make a poultice on the testicles, and give it to him on an empty stomach, and he will heal immediately. It grows in mountainous terrain, that is, in cold places.”
