Orvieto, Basilica Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta (o Duomo): la facciata, iniziata alla fine del XIII secolo.
Particolare del rivestimento dei quattro pilastri delle porte. Si tratta di lastree marmoree con bassorilievi eseguite tra il 1320 e il 1330 da Lorenzo Maitani con l'aiuto di maestranze senesi e pisane.
Rappresentazione delle storie evangeliche tra girali di acanto: Annunciazione e Visitazione; Natività ed Epifania; Presentazione al tempio e Fuga in Egitto; Strage degli Innocenti e Disputa nel tempio; Battesimo e Miracolo di Gesù; Entrata in Gerusalemme e Bacio di Giuda; Flagellazione e Crocifissione; Maria al Sepolcro e Noli me tangere. In basso: Adamo (o Abramo o Giacobbe) dormiente. Lungo la linea mediana: profeti. Ai lati: angeli adoranti.
