2004 Kennedy Center Honoree John Williams and his wife arrive at the Harry S. Truman Building (Department of State) in Washington, D.C. on December 4, 2004 for a dinner hosted by United States Secretary of State Colin Powell. At the dinner six performing arts legends will receive the Kennedy Center Honors of 2004. This is the 27th year that the honors have been bestowed on "extraordinary individuals whose unique and abundant artistry has contributed significantly to the cultural life of our nation and the world" said John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts Chairman Stephen A. Schwarzman. The award recipients are: actor, director, producer, and writer Warren Beatty; husband-and-wife actors, writers and producers Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee; singer and composer Elton John; soprano Joan Sutherland; and composer and conductor John Williams.
