Bending over a fence, an American soldier informs inhabitants of an occupied German village in 1945 about regulations for civilians, issued by commander-in-chief Dwight D. Eisenhower. The Normandy landings of the Allied on the 6th of June in 1944 sealed the downfall of the National Socialists. The advance of the Allied forces was not to be kept back, World War II in Europe ended with Germany's capitulation on the 8th of May in 1945.
