Hermann Göring, later Reichsmarschall, the highest rank in the German Wehrmacht during National Socialism, as main chief of staff of the SA (the paramilitary branch of the NSDAP) in 1922. Besides Himmler and Goebbels, Göring was the third of Adolf Hitler's comrades, who followed him in blind obedience. After the foundation of the Gestapo in 1933/1934, Göring organised the violent oppression of the opposition and erected concentration camps with Himmler. He was one of the persons mainly responsible for the service of foreign forced labourers and measurements to enable the Holocaust. He was born in Marienbad near Rosenheim on the 12th of January in 1893 and committed suicide in Nuremberg on the 15th of October in 1946.
