A soldier of the US army (centre), which was in Germany for the participation in the manoeuvre REFORGER I, shows to the twelve-year-old Franzl (left) and his father (right) how to handle a new submachine gun. Altogether around 17.000 soldiers participated in the manoeuvre, many of them were brought from the USA to Germany via air bridge.
