The last German emperor - Wilhelm II.
Légende
Emperor Wilhelm II. at his desk in Haus Doorn in exile in the Netherlands. After his accession to the throne in 1888, contrasts to Otto von Bismarck, whose fall he brought about, escalated soon. He strongly believed in his claim to leadership by the grace of God, but hardly put any political accents. He gave powerful speeches with partially disastrous consequences (e.g. the Daily Telegraph scandal). He fled to the Netherlands on the 9th/10th of November in 1918, officially renounced the throne on the 28th of November in 1918. In the following years, he approached National Socialism and never lost his hope for restoration of monarchy. Emperor Wilhelm II. was born on the 27th of January in 1859 in Berlin and died on the 4th of June in 1941 in Haus Doorn. The last German emperor was buried with military honours by Hitler's command.
