Propaganda text on the back of the picture for National Socialist report: "The conquest of Odessa. On the 16th of October, troops of the 4th Romanian army conquered the biggest harbour city at the Black Sea, Odessa. The population received the Romanian-German troops with enthusiasm. - Severe damages of the city are the result of the useless Bolshevist resistance."
Motive from the Eastern front / Ukraine from the 20th of October in 1941.
The German attack of the Soviet Union was decided on in July 1940 and was prepared under the alias
"Operation Barbarossa" from December 1940 on. The Soviet-German war started on the 22nd of June in 1941 with the attack of the German Wehrmacht on the Soviet Union.
