Propaganda text on the back of the picture for National Socialist report: "Blown up Soviet destroyer in Libau. This Soviet destroyer lied in anchor in the harbour of Libau, as the German troops advanced. Since the exit was blocked by German mines, the crew blew it up."
Motive from the Eastern front / Lithuania from the 2nd of August in 1941.
The German attack of the Soviet Union was going under the alias "Operation Barbarossa" and started on the 22nd of June in 1941.
Whereas German troops were at first welcomed by the population, hatred developed later and off-loaded in a brutal guerilla war.
