Propaganda text on the back of the picture for National Socialist report: "A blown up bridge across the River Daugava. The Bolshevists in the East, just like the French in the West, do not realise that blowing up bridges will not prevent the German advance. Our pioneers make sure of that."
Motive from the Eastern front / Lithuania from the 24th of July in 1941.
The German attack of the Soviet Union was decided on in July 1940 and was prepared under the alias
"Operation Barbarossa" from December 1940 on. The Soviet-German war started on the 22nd of June in 1941 with the attack of the German Wehrmacht on the Soviet Union.
