Advertising poster, beverage advertisement, featuring the title ‘Elixir De Kempenaar', designed around 1905 by the Belgian artist Ernest Godfrinon (1878–1927) and printed as a chromolithograph in Brussels. The poster advertised the herbal liqueur ‘Elixir De Kempenaar', which was very popular at the time and produced by the Jacques Neefs distillery in Antwerp. The elderly man stands smiling beside a table in a traditional tavern or farmhouse parlour. He watches with amusement as the soldiers and woman interact.
