A new floodplain landscape for flood protection and biodiversity is being created at the Emscher-Auen farm. The Emscher, which is currently straightened, will be given curves again and can meander through its new floodplain. The Emscher has been completely free of sewage since 2022 following the construction of a parallel sewer.
