The ecological focal point at the confluence of the Suderwicher Bach (left) and Emscher (right) will also be a future garden for the International Garden Exhibition 2027. Before the renaturalisation, the Emscher river system was an open, above-ground wastewater channel, combined sewer with surface water and wastewater.
