While out on a boat in Costa Rica's Tortuguero National Park early one morning, my workshop group and I were presented with a perfect opportunity to photograph a Bare-throated Tiger Heron. The bird stayed in front of us for five minutes, preening in the light reflected from the water on the river. The curves of the vegetation lent a nice composition to the scene
