Charles Robert Darwin (12 February 1809 in Shrewsbury - 19 April 1882) . British natural scientist. Portrait from 1874. His theory of evolution, which has since been confirmed by genetics, makes him one of the most important natural scientists of all time. His most famous works are: 'On the Origin of Species' and 'The Descent of Man and Sexual Selection'. Darwin was also the first to explain how coral reefs are formed. Great Britain
