On the Berlin Reichstag, May 2, 1945, colored 1970. The three soldiers are the Ukrainian Alexei Leontyevich Kovalyov, the Kumyken Abdulchakim Isakovich Ismailov and the Belorussian Leonid Goritchev. J. Chaldej took 36 pictures, which he later also changed by adding clouds of smoke, retouching the watch and assembling further variants. The picture became an icon and symbol of the victory over National Socialism
