Russian traffic policewoman, Küstrin in April 1945, Germany J. Chaldej about this photo: I flew to Poznan (Posen) and from there I travelled on a tank to the German town of Küstrin on the Oder. The young woman who were in charge of the traffic had a difficult job. They were bombed, but were not allowed to leave their post at the ferry. Everyone ran and sought cover. But they had to stand still. Many of these woman lost their lives
