Pius VI (civil name Giovanni Angelo Count Braschi, born 25 December (1) 1717 in Cesena, Papal States, died 29 August 1799 in Valence) was the 250th Pope of the Roman Catholic Church from 1775 to 1799. He had previously been a priest from 1758 and a cardinal from 1773.
