Severus Alexander (born 1 October 208 in Arca Caesarea, Arqa in present-day Lebanon, died in March 235 near Mogontiacum) was Roman emperor from 13 March 222 until his death. His original name was Bassianus Alexianus. From June 221 he called himself Marcus Aurelius Alexander, as emperor he bore the name Marcus Aurellius Severus Alexander, authentic, digitally restored reproduction from a 19th century original, record date not stated
